In this day and age, children and adolescents are having more emotional and behavioral difficulties than at any time in our past.  This is partly related to the recent pandemic, but also to the fact that our world is much more complex and also changes frequently and quickly.  Due to the fact that it has been difficult to find mental health services for children over the past several years, I made the decision to open my private practice in Knoxville to use the professional training and significant clinical experience to help children and adolescents.  This site has several sections, including a brief description of my training and background, information about the services I offer and the cost of those services, and articles written by me regarding various childhood mental health issues.  It is my desire to offer high quality mental health services for children and adolescents so that they can live the most fulfilling and happy lives possible.  I have lived with a child who had significant mental health issues and I understand how stressful that can be for a family.  My promise to you is to provide the best quality mental health services with practical ideas for improving the life of your child and family. If you have a child who is having significant behavior problems at home or at school I can help.  If you have a child who is struggling academically or socially and don't know why or what to do to help your child, I can help.

What to expect: Please contact me if you would like to have a 15 minute free consultation about your child and my services.  If you decide to schedule an appointment with me, the first session will be for 90 minutes and we will discuss your concerns about your child and the relevant clinical history to begin the diagnostic process.  Depending on what is discussed during that appointment I will likely give you some rating scales to complete (along with teacher rating scales) to provide more information about your child.  After the appropriate rating scales have been scored and reviewed by me, we will have a 60 minute appointment to discuss the results and possible diagnosis and treatment options.  Many times I will already know what is causing the concerns by that time, and sometimes I will discuss additional testing that would be useful.  Because of my extensive experience diagnosing and treating children and adolescents with emotional and behavioral issues I am typically able to save you time and money by addressing your concerns within 2-3 appointments.  My evaluations are thorough and accurate, and I assess the whole picture, including any possible diagnoses (often times there are more than one) and medical conditions that might mimic mental health issues.  I pride myself in doing my work as efficiently and productively as possible so that families can find relief from the concerns that brought them into treatment.
